Report on Design Thinking Project Expo 2024-2025
The Design Thinking Project Expo, organized by XPLORE at Hyderabad Institute of Technology and Management (HITAM), was held on February 7 and 8, 2025. The event aimed to encourage students to work on society-oriented projects that address real-world problems using design thinking methodologies. The expo provided a platform for students to showcase their innovative solutions while enhancing their problem-solving and presentation skills.
The expo commenced with a welcome and inaugural session followed by speeches from the Principal and the Assistant Dean of IIIC. The project exhibition took place in two phases, interspersed with speeches from the Director. A written exam was also conducted for participating students.
A total of 376 participants registered for the event, including six external participants.
Students from different branches showcased a wide array of innovative projects. Some notable projects included:
- Smart Dustbin – A waste management solution using automation.
- Period Tracker – A health-oriented mobile application for menstrual cycle tracking.
- Drainage Alarm System – A safety mechanism for detecting clogged drainage systems.
- Flood Detector – A real-time flood monitoring and alert system.
- Smart Traffic Control – An intelligent traffic management system to reduce congestion.
- Reflective Collars for Stray Animals – A visibility-enhancing accessory for animal safety.
- Soil Moisture Sensor Integrated with Web Application – A precision agriculture tool.
- Deepfake Detection – A cybersecurity solution for identifying AI-generated fake videos.
- Stray Dog Rescue – A tracking and rescue system for abandoned animals.
The event successfully exposed students to advanced perspectives, ideas, and practical implementations of design thinking. It enhanced their ability to conceptualize and execute innovative projects, preparing them for industry challenges. The expo was an invaluable learning experience that fostered creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
